Everybody knows the first rule in telling a story right is starting from the very beginning. It was summer. The sky bloomed with beautiful chirping birds, the atmosphere was relaxed and the breeze was soothing. The city of New Jersey felt warmer and the joy that elated the Brown’s knew no boundaries. As far as Liam and Emma Brown were concerned, the cry of the baby they had in their hands was the beginning of their future. Their daughter Avery was born that day. Let us fast forward a little. Avery grew up with her dog, her dad’s best friend Logan, her mum and her dad.

Everybody knows the first rule in telling a story is starting from the very beginning, so that’s where the story of Avery and her flyboys should begin.
The year had just swung into Summer after a chilly Spring, and all over Jersey City, faces were turned up toward the newly warm sun. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the air was full of birdsong and soft breezes. It was enough to make the grumpiest old grump feel happy, but the joy that elated the Browns knew no boundaries. As far as Liam and Emma Brown were concerned, the cry of the brand-new baby girl they held in their arms was the most beautiful sound they had ever heard. They named her Avery and promised her a beautiful life.
Avery grew up with her dog, her mom and dad, and her dad’s best friend, Logan.
Reflections
In the copyedited version, grammar and sentence structure have been corrected and infelicities revised. The heavily edited version shows what can sometimes be done when this editor is given a free hand. This ‘heavy edit’ is actually more of a developmental edit in which the editor helps the author develop the project.
